Next generation iPhone concepts 2008

Here are three iPhone concepts I subscribed for iLounge's iPhone design contest 2008.

This is about size. It would be great if there is a material that could be squeezed to a smaller size if the iPhone is not in use. To give its initial size back, you just have to "shake" it.

iPhone with holographic display doesn't need a big casing anymore. You can carry it on your wrist.

With wireless technology iPhone could become more communicative with each other. You can imagine what kind of great features could show up one day.

These Movie posters were seen on apple.com/trailers. They catched my attention because of their layout, which I mean almost exactly the same. Is it the 2008's layout or their design came from the same agency? ;)

Sport car for Michael Schumacher

This is another conceptual design that I did for Autozeitung's Automobile Design Contest 2007. We were asked to design a super sport car for Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher. There were no technical and design limitations.

I started with some pencil sketches and finished the rendering in a graphic application. The vehicle has unique illuminated wheel covers.

iPhone nano concept 2007

This is an iPhone concept done for the iLounge design contest 2007. The task was to design an upcoming smaller iPhone called iPhone nano. My idea was a flexible iPhone nano that you can put in your pocket without worrying to break it. You can also control your music on the iPhone like using iPod's click wheel, withtout having to look at the display, which you can't on the present iPhone.

I did some sketches first, then traced some outlines in Freehand. The rendering was completely done in Photoshop.

Just did a fast sketch with a pen of an upcoming VW Scirocco. Original image was from an Autobild computer generated image. The sketch was for a friend wo loves that car very much.

Flower painting on an invitation card

I did a favor for a friend who asked me to draw flowers for his mom's birthday invitation card. I decided to draw callas because I like the simple and clear shape. I started with pencil drawing, scanned it as template and colored it with graphic tablet in a graphic application. I used airbrush mode for painting. The vivid image was the favorite one.

Opel Astra Concept 07

Just for fun, I sent my concept drawing to Autozeitung for their Automobile Design Contest this year. Surprisingly, I became runner-up at the "Opel Astra" category. First I made some rough sketches. It should have a dominant emblem in front of it. Then I drew some outlines and shapes using Freehand app. The final image was done in Photoshop with the shapes I drew in Freehand. For the background I used a photo I took in Tokyo.

At a central station

Waiting is a boring activity, if it is an activity at all. Once I was in this situation. I was at a central station and waiting for someone. To spend my time waiting, I looked around for living objects for my scribbles practice. I tried to create a rough impression of a figure before it moved away. Finally I drew the main outlines.

Wallpaper Christmas '05

The graphics was somehow inspired by Tim Burton's drawing style (image above). I created four main shapes in Freehand. Then I imported and composed them into a unique winter landscape in Photoshop. Put the typical Christmas red in the background and done!

Wallpaper YWAM

I was impressed by the well illustrated characters from "Your Wings Are Mine", a manga that a friend created. Just for fun and for practice drawing manga, I tried a composition that should tell the basic message of the story. This work is dedicated to Aoi Hayashi, the creator of YWAM.

S.A.F. 1

S.A.F. 1 is a face (aka skin) for Panic's Audion audio player. Find out more at Panic.
I started with some sketches on a paper. It should be a small player (S.A.F. = Small Audion Face) and look like something made of metal. Also it should look fast, more like flying vehicle.

I liked the one in the middle. I drew the outlines in Freehand so I had an editable graphic template for Photoshop. And finally I did the rendering in Photoshop.

To complete the face I also created related icons, images for Audion's preview window and picture manual. This face was done in 2001.
